Artificial intelligence has the power to both worsen and lessen these inequalities, making careful development, use, and evaluation essential. Educators will explore how to ensure fair access to AI, protect student data, and recognize bias in AI systems. This module also prepares educators to develop and advocate for rules that promote human-centered, inclusive, and culturally relevant AI in education. This course is about the vital role educators play in the age of AI. While technology is changing fast, the heart of teaching is still human. Teaching is built on connection, collaboration, and empathy. Educators help decide how AI is used, from shaping school policies to making day-to-day classroom choices, so it stays ethical, fair, and focused on students. AI should be a helpful partner that supports learning, not a replacement for the relationships that matter most. Course participants will examine the representation and exclusion of people with disabilities in civil rights movements, critically evaluate the reasons for this neglect, and explore the role of mass media in shaping societal views of people with disabilities. An understanding of how educational contexts and practices support or diminish the presence of students with disabilities in mainstream school spaces and anti-ableist curricular representation will be supported.
