An advocacy perspective requires educators to believe that with adequate support, multilingual learners (MLs) can achieve at the same level as their non-ML peers. Advocates also believe that educators have a shared sense of responsibility for the academic achievement of MLs. For educators to approach MLs’ instruction from an advocacy perspective, they must understand the needs and key areas for ML advocacy, as well as understand the tools and strategies that can support advocacy efforts. Welcome to the Reframe to Retain Training. This course was developed by Brandi Mills, the Media Arts Instructor at Lynn Camp High School from Knox County Public Schools in conjunction with the Kentucky Education Association. In this course you will explore the power of creative remediation—using art, design, and multimedia projects to help students re-engage with and master core content. Participants will learn how to transform traditional assignments into personalized, meaningful tasks that close learning gaps while building student confidence and ownership.
