Educators help decide how AI is used, from shaping school policies to making day-to-day classroom choices, so it stays ethical, fair, and focused on students. AI should be a helpful partner that supports learning, not a replacement for the relationships that matter most. Course participants will examine the representation and exclusion of people with disabilities in civil rights movements, critically evaluate the reasons for this neglect, and explore the role of mass media in shaping societal views of people with disabilities. An understanding of how educational contexts and practices support or diminish the presence of students with disabilities in mainstream school spaces and anti-ableist curricular representation will be supported.
